  3. Systems Remediation • current status: • 92% of the mission critical programs converted or replaced; • 88% of systems have been Y2K date tested • oversight includes: • monthly red-yellow-green scorecards • monthly letters to commissioners • regular updates to two legislative committees

  4. System Remediation cont. • additional program office activities: • PC assessment process • building embedded systems reviews • smaller agency assistance • certification reviews: • agency Y2K program adequacy • audit of completed remediation activities • contingency plan reviews

Continuity of Agency Services • contingency planning forms and workshops held between Oct and Jan • contingency planning groups formed in agencies with initial plans due 3/31/99 • consulting firm now on board to help with review/restructuring of plans and integration with state command center/ emergency management plans

  6. Municipal Outreach/Education • DOIT is reaching out to municipalities: • share Y2K policies, practices and contracts via web site and CCM workshops • 140 of 169 Towns returned Y2K survey • 67% can complete on on their own; • 33% need financial or technical help • Confirming responses • training and technical follow-up • Bill to allow towns to access LOCIP funds • Also appropriated extra $20 Million

  7. Governor’s Task Force • Oversight of State, Municipal and Private Sector • General David W. Gay, Chairman • 8 regional workshops held for towns • 58% municipalities attended • Towns urged to communicate with infrastructure reps and residents • State Functional Service Meetings held in May • Planned again for September and October • Report back to Leg. in July, Sept., and Nov.

  8. CONN/STEP Training Available • Getting Started Briefing • Workshops (on signup basis): • assessment • remediation • embedded systems • contingency planning • no cost to each municipality for two participants

  9. Emergency Management • emergency response structure is there; DOIT working with state Office of Emergency Management to evaluate 68 agency-suggested scenarios • DOIT and OEM attended FEMA regional workshop in February • OEM has sent FEMA Y2K guides to every local EMA • Gov’s Task Force will coordinate completion of activities • OEM 24/7 from 12/29 to 1/5

Regulatory Oversight • DOIT is monitoring State agencies with regulatory oversight responsibilities: e.g., DPUC, Banking, Insurance, DEP, etc. • a coordinated database of the readiness status of over 2000 providers of service to state agencies is in the works • plan: use the Web to publicize readiness of sectors and provide links to selected regulated company sites • reality: will be in place by June 30
