Step 1: Identify the subject & verb Youmust be ableto ID the correctsubject and verbto be used in the sentence. • The verbis the actionthat the subjectis “doing”. • Example test question: Miguel / oír • subjectverb • Wemust use Miguel as the subject and oír as the verb. • YOU MUST ALWAYS CONJUGATE THE VERB! • Thesubjectwillgofirst in the sentence, followedby the verb. • Answer: Miguel oye oigo oímos oís oyes oye oyen

  3. Step 2: Adding the needed extras In ordertohave a sentencemakesense, youmustincludeotherwords. • Nowthatwehaveourbeginningsentence, Miguel oye, wemustmakeit more complete withadditionalwording. Forexample, Miguel hearswhat? • Howoften? • When? • Do weneedtoadd “a” or “an” or “some” or “the”, etc.? • Example test question: Miguel / oír / siempre / a / el doctor • Firststep, Identify the wordswe are given. Whatis the subject? Verb? Directobject? • Remembertoidentifysituationswherewordschangedueto the gender of the nouns. • Writeyoursentence. Miguel siempre oye al doctor. • Miguel alwayshears the doctor.

Sometimesyou are notpromptedwith the wordsyouneed, thisiswhatyou do. • Someimportantvocabularythatwehavelearned: • Indefinitearticles: un, una, unos, unas • Definitearticles: el, la, los, las • Adverbsthatexpressfrequency: siempre, rara vez, nunca, mucho, poco, de vez en cuando, todos los días • The personal “a” • When? Por la mañana, por la tarde, por la noche • Anyothers? • Test questionexample: Miguel y yo / conocer • Write a complete sentenceusingvocabulary and anythingelseyouneed.
