  1. Warm-up: • Name a line and a plane in the picture below:

  2. Section 1.4: Segments, Rays, and Parallel Lines/Planes LEQ: What are segments and rays and how are they named? What are parallel lines and planes?

  3. Segment: part of a line, has exactly two endpoints • Drawing • Symbol • Name: “segment AB”

  4. Ray: part of a line, has exactly one endpoint with other end extending in opposite direction • Drawing • Symbol • Name: “Ray AB”

  5. Opposite rays: Two rays that share a common endpoint and extend in opposite directions

  6. Parallel lines: Two identical lines that never intersect. • Symbol: ll m llf

  7. Skew lines: • Two lines that never intersect but are not parallel.

  8. Parallel Planes identical planes that don’t intersect • Planes ABCD and EFGH are parallel

  9. Add in: Line symbol:

  10. Match the picture to the term • Segment • Ray • Opposite rays • Skew Lines • Parallel Planes • Parallel Lines

  11. Ex. 1 • Name all segments and rays in the figure. Name any opposite rays

  12. Ex. 2 • Name all the parallel planes in the figure below:

  13. Ex. 3 • Name all segments parallel to AE. • Name all segments skew to AE. • Name all segments parallel to DC. • Name all segments skew to DC. C D B A G H F E

  14. Do ex. 3 and 4

  15. Hwk: • P. 25-27: 1-15 odd, 16-23, 38
