The Father in the Godhead • Though united in purpose, each person fulfills a different role in the Godhead. • Equal in being and power: Eternal. • United in purpose. • Different roles in fulfilling that purpose. • The Father is the will; the conductor.
The Role of the Father • The Father is never sent. • As the Conductor, He does the sending—John 6:38; 14:26. • Jesus was sent as the acting agent, to accomplish the Father’s will. • The Holy Spirit was sent to supply order, power, and revelation.

Stand in Awe of the Wisdom and Power of the Father • Whose eternal purpose was accomplished in Christ Jesus (Eph. 3:11). • Whose manifold wisdom is made known by the church (Eph. 3:10). • Who sent Jesus and raised Him from the dead (Col. 2:12). • Who is above all, through all, and in all (Eph. 4:6).
Questions to be Answered • How could God be in Heaven and on earth at the same time? (Isa. 48:16; John 1:14) • If Jesus is in subjection to the Father, How is He equal to the Father? (John 1:3; Phil. 2:6; 1 Pet. 5:5)
