  1. WHAT IS THE BOILER UPGRADE SCHEME? Heating systems of a building can be upgraded to use less carbon under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. In order to assist the installation of heat pumps and biomass boilers in houses and non-domestic buildings in England and Wales, it offers upfront capital energy saving grants.   2. FOR HOW MUCH MONEY CAN INSTALLERS REQUEST? In their capacity as agents for property owners, installers may apply for: ●Savings of £5000 on the purchase price and installation of an air source heat pump. ●A purchase discount of £5000 on a biomass boiler installation. ●A ground source heat pump, including water source heat pumps, can be purchased and installed for £6,000 less.   3. ROLE OF THE OFGEM The program's administrator is Ofgem. PROPERTY QUALIFICATION Small non-domestic and domestic properties are eligible for the programme if they have: ●a maximum 45 kWh installation capacity ●a valid energy performance certificate (EPC), with no outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations Grants are not offered to public housing, newly constructed homes and properties where a heat pump or biomass boiler has previously received government funding or support. PRODUCTS UNDER ENERGY SAVING GRANTS Grants are exclusively offered to: ●heat pumps with air sources, ●wood-fired boilers, ●thermal pumps that use groundwater (including water source heat pumps and those on shared ground loops), and hybrid heat pump systems, including those that combine an air source heat pump and a gas boiler.
