  1. Taking Care of Yourself After Getting the Vaccine

  2. Getting vaccinated is an important step in keeping yourself and others safe from the COVID-19 virus. • There are more COVID-19 vaccine clinics Hawaii than ever before, making it fast and easy to get the vaccine on your schedule. • As the vaccine works its way through your body, it’s important to take care of yourself in the days following your vaccination, to make sure you stay healthy and comfortable.

  3. In some cases, there can also be side effects that usually last a few days; knowing how to handle these can help keep you comfortable as well.

  4. Here’s how you can stay happy and healthy, while doing your part to stop COVID-19. • After getting the vaccine at a COVID-19 vaccine center near you, make sure to stay for 30 minutes after receiving your shot. • Doing so gives your body time to take in the vaccine, as well as for the doctor to monitor you for any adverse reactions. • Don’t panic if you begin having side effects immediately following or in the days after receiving the vaccination.

  5. Side effects like fatigue, a fever, and body aches and pains are all normal, and should usually subside within a few days. • You may also not experience side effects. This is also normal, and isn’t a sign that the vaccine isn’t working. • To help avoid or treat any adverse effects, make sure you take it easy the first couple of days after receiving the vaccine. • Getting rest and staying hydrated will help the vaccine work naturally and smoothly.

  6. If you feel worried about the severity of your side effects, or they last longer than a few days, don’t hesitate to reach out to Urgent Care Hawaii or seek medical assistance. • You can schedule a doctor’s visit either in-person or through telehealth. • Don’t self-medicate for side effect relief. • Always consult your doctor before taking any drugs, as they’ll know what’s best for your symptoms.

  7. Make sure to keep your vaccinated arm active, even when it’s sore! Exercising your arm will actually help keep your muscles relaxed, and will help soreness to subside. • Remember to regularly wear masks, social distance, and use hand sanitizer for two weeks after your last vaccine shot! The vaccine takes approximately two weeks to fully work its way through your body, so it’s important to be safe as you can still get COVID-19.

  8. After two weeks, you can begin to relax safety precautions when out in public, but remember to carry a mask with you in case you need one! • With many COVID-19 vaccine centers near you, getting vaccinated is easier than ever before. • Make sure to get your vaccine as soon as you can, as the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines both require two shots to be taken a month apart from each other.

  9. The sooner you get your first shot, the sooner you can get your second, and the sooner things can return to normal for Hawaii, and the world. • Make sure to visit a COVID-19 vaccine center in Hawaii to get vaccinated as soon as you can, or continue to get tested at an Urgent Care Hawaii near you!
