  1. An Increasing number of Heart Attacks at Younger Age Indians have one of the highest rates of heart-related illness in the world with a fifth of worldwide deaths from a heart condition. Compared to others, the Indians are 3-20 times at higher risk of developing cardiac diseases. While the Western population witness twenty-three percent of deaths because of cardiovascular disease and stroke before seventy years aged, it's a banging fifty-two percent among Indians. What is a heart attack? A heart attack, known as myocardial infarction in medical terms, occurs when a blood clot blocks the flow of blood to a coronary artery. Coronary arteries are the blood vessels, that provide blood to our heart muscle. The interruption of blood flow to the heart’s muscular wall causes a part of the wall to get ‘damaged and destroyed’ and stop pumping blood. Reasons for Heart Attack among Youngsters: ● Due to hectic work schedules Increase in In-active lifestyle

  2. ● ● ● ● ● ● Abdominal obesity (belly fat) Metabolic syndrome Diabetes and high blood pressure Inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables Increased use of deep-fried, processed, and junk food, owing to the fast food culture. Increase in tobacco usage Poor awareness and No control over coronary artery-related illness and the risk factors Low HDL-cholesterol (good cholesterol levels) Genetic predisposition Rural population’s migration to the urban areas on a large-scale ● ● ● How do prevent heart attacks at a younger age? The seeds of cardiovascular disease are seeded at an early, young age. Thus, as a preventive measure, more comprehensive cardiac screening and health awareness are required at schools and educational institutions. Government should conjointly try proactively to see if lifestyle and awareness concerning heart diseases can be included within the curriculum. Cardiac screening among youth should include a review of blood pressure, family history, stress-related problems, heart-related symptoms, and other risk factors. A strategy to stop cardiovascular diseases long before their onset is more cost-effective than providing interventions at a stage once the disease has already set in.
