  1. What is Shri Suktam? In this earthly realm, there is hardly any human who does not desire happiness, prosperity, wealth, opulence, and success. Goddess Lakshmi is the presiding deity of all these blessings. To please Goddess Lakshmi swiftly, the Rigveda mentions 29 hymns dedicated to her. Among these, the first 15 hymns form the core of the Shri Sukta, while the remaining verses highlight its significance. The first 15 hymns are specifically for the worship and adoration of Goddess Lakshmi. This collection of 29 hymns from the Rigveda, dedicated to the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, is known as Shri Sukta. It is a divine Sanskrit hymn devoted to Goddess Lakshmi, recited for attaining prosperity, fortune, and overall well-being. It is believed that those who sincerely worship Goddess Lakshmi with these 29 sacred verses from the Rigveda are freed from financial hardships and poverty forever. Moreover, it is said that they do not experience poverty for seven lifetimes. Although many other hymns exist to appease Goddess Lakshmi, the recitation of Shri Sukta is considered the most powerful and effective. Shri Suktam Hiranyavarnaam Harineem Suvarna Rajata Srajaam Chandraam Hiranmayeem Lakshmeem Jatavedo Ma A Vaha. ||1|| O Jataveda (All-knowing Agni Deva), please invoke for me Goddess Lakshmi, who is golden-hued, slightly greenish in complexion, adorned with gold and silver garlands, radiant like the moon, and resplendent like pure gold. Tam Ma A Vaha Jatavedo Lakshmimanapagaminim Yasyam Hiranyam Vindeyam Gam Ashwam Purushan Aham. ||2|| O Agni, please invoke for me Goddess Lakshmi, who is eternal and indestructible, and by whose grace I shall obtain gold, cows, horses, and sons. Ashwapurvaam Rathamadhyaam Hastinaada Pramodineem Shriyam Deveem Upa Hvaye Shreer Maa Devi Jushataam. ||3|| I invoke Goddess Shri, who is seated in the middle of a chariot with horses in the front and who rejoices upon hearing the sounds of elephants. May Goddess Lakshmi bless me and reside with me. Kaam Sosmitaam Hiranyapraakaraam Aardraam Jvalanteem Triptaam Tarpayanteem Padyesthitaam Padmavarnaam Taam Ihopa Hvaye Shriyam. ||4|| I invoke here Goddess Lakshmi, who is the very embodiment of Brahman, gently smiling, covered with a golden aura, compassionate, radiant, ever-fulfilled, bestower of grace upon her devotees, seated on a lotus, and lotus-hued. Chandraam Prabhaasaam Yashasaa Jvalanteem Shriyam Loke Devajushtaam Udaaram Taam Padminiim Sharanam Prapadye Alakshmirme Nashyataam Tvaam Vrine. ||5|| I take refuge in Goddess Lakshmi, who has a radiant glow like the moon, shines brilliantly with fame, is worshipped by the divine beings in the heavenly realms, and is generous and

From your intense austerity, the most auspicious Bilva tree has emerged among all trees. May its fruits, by your grace, dispel both my external and internal poverty. Upaitu maam devasakhah keertishcha manina saha। Pradurbhuto’smi rashtrae’smin keertimriddhim dadatu me. ||7|| O Devi may Devasakha Kubera and his friend Manibhadra, along with Daksha Prajapati’s daughter Kirti, bless me with wealth and fame.
