  1. CELL DIVISION Understanding the process of mitosis and meiosis By sadie Hectus

  2. INTRODUCTION TO CELL DIVISION Cell division is a fundamental process that allows organisms to grow, repair, and reproduce. It sustains life through the replication of cells and is essential for maintaining the continuity of life from one generation to another.

  3. IT'S STUDY TIME Definition of Cell Division Cell division refers to the process by which a parent cell divides into two or more daughter cells. This mechanism is crucial for growth, tissue repair, and reproduction, enabling organisms to sustain life and adapt to their environment.

  4. IT'S STUDY TIME Importance of the Cell Cycle The cell cycle is a series of ordered events that lead to cell division. It plays a critical role in ensuring proper genetic material is duplicated and equally distributed, maintaining the integrity and continuity of both somatic and germ cells.

  5. OVERVIEW OF CHROMOSOMES Chromosomes are structures made of DNA that carry genetic information. They are crucial during cell division as they ensure that DNA is accurately replicated and distributed to daughter cells, affecting inheritance and cellular function.

  6. THE ZYGOTE'S ROLE Cell division begins with the fertilized egg, or zygote, which is the initial cell formed when a sperm cell fertilizes an egg. This single cell undergoes numerous divisions, leading to the development of a multicellular organism.

  7. CONTINUITY OF LIFE Cell division is essential for the continuity of life, as it allows for the growth and replacement of cells in organisms. Through the cell cycle, cells can divide according to the organism's needs, facilitating development and healing.

  8. CELL CYCLE STAGES The cell cycle is an intricate series of phases that ensure proper cell growth and division, vital for maintaining all forms of life. By understanding DNA structure and the stages of the cell cycle, we can appreciate how cells replicate and function effectively within the organism

  9. IT'S STUDY TIME Structure and Function of DNA DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule that carries genetic information essential for growth, development, and reproduction. Its structure comprises two strands forming a double helix, with sequences of nucleotides representing the genetic code.

  10. IT'S STUDY TIME Phases of the Cell Cycle The cell cycle consists of stages: G1 (Growth), S (Synthesis), and G2 (Second growth). Each phase is crucial for ensuring that DNA is replicated accurately and that cells are prepared for division.

  11. SUMMARY  The cell division is when we take the cells and break them apart to make more than what there was before. There is more infreomation and stages then what was there before.
