AARP is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that empowers people to choose how they live as they age. It was founded by Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus in the year 1958 to help older Americans lead lives of independence, dignity, and purpose. It represents the needs of nearly 38 million registered members from the United States aged 50 years and above. AARP members span four generations andrepresent a wide range of attitudes, cultures, and lifestyles. An increasing number of them work full time or part time out of choice or compulsion and include business owners, entrepreneurs, teachers, caregivers, and community leaders. They include individuals who are at the peak of their earning years and have comfortable standards of living, as well as those who live alone and are struggling with minimal resources. Their concerns include financial security, health care, and the safety of neighborhoods in which theylive. The aim of AARP is to remodel the traditional model of aging and to take advantage of the wisdomand expertise of the experienced class, so that they can continue making meaningful contributions to the social capital of the nation. They want to give people aged 50 and above, access to the care, information, and services they need to lead healthier and financially independent lives. In addition to the other benefits and resources that AARP provides, it also provides a job search platform to job seekers who are over50. AARP’s Employer Pledge Program &Enago!
