  1. Evolution of Marking Systems Marking tools are employed to mark metal and non-metal surfaces for the sake of traceability. These products can be marked with various signs, such as the logo of a company, alpha numeric patterns, any graphical design or any symbols. These marks distinguish a product from other products manufactured by other companies. It is a known fact that customers recognize any company’s product by looking at their logo. Marking products is an identification method employed by almost all companies. Marking objects has been made easier by the invention of marking tools such as marking stamps, blocks, punches etc. Other tools employed are stencils, engraving tools and embossing tools, these help make clear and accurate marks efficiently on the desired surface. Marking tools have a tendency to give a high graphic definition to any image, symbol and pattern. They permanently mark metals such as zinc, steel and also non-metals such as plastics. These markings are tough to fade out and pleasing to look at. There is a wide range of mechanical tools as well as manual tools employed in the task to marking objects.
