  3. Style • A personal way of working – the use of materials, design qualities, methods, and choice of subject matter. Or the work of a group having similar visual aspects, messages or cultural period.

  4. Medium Material that an artist uses to make an artwork (ex. Paint, graphite, collage, mixed-media)

  5. Stylized • Artwork that is described as simplified or distorted for design purposes, or simply non-naturalistic.

  6. Symbolism • An image or sign that represents something else, because of convention, association, or resemblance.

  7. Composition • To create, form or design something by arranging separate parts to create a whole

  8. Gradation • A gradual, smooth change, as in from light to dark, from rough to smooth, or from one colour to another

  9. Conceptual art • An art form in which the underlying idea or concept and process are more important than any final product

  10. Performance art • Art in which there is no concrete object, but rather a series of events performed by the artist in front of an audience.

  11. Still life • A work of art in which the subject matter is an arrangement of inanimate objects
