  1. Genesis Offices including The Genesis CDA Training and Resource Centre for the local community August 2010

  2. 1 Who are we? • Genesis Community Development Assistance “Genesis CDA” is a Kenya registered NGO • Registered in 1995 Ref: OP/218/051/94150/424 under the NGO Act 1990. • Genesis CDA is a charitable organisation operating in the lower eastern part of Kenya, especially, the larger Mwingi District. • Operates in rural Kenya with links to 16 primary schools and 10 secondary schools. • Genesis is also linked to 65 Community Based Organizations, “CBOs” who require training on leadership, governance, communication and reports production • Many of the programmes undertaken by Genesis CDA are aimed at stimulating and assisting sustainable development in the region. • The government of Kenya has come up with vision 2030 aimed at making Kenya a semi-industrial economy by 2030. The biggest barrier to the realization of the vision is lack of information, low literacy levels, poor perceptions and the lack of the adoption of appropriate technologies. 4. 2. What does Genesis CDA stand for? • Genesis CDA tries to be as original as possible. It is not an opportunistic single purpose organisation. • Works with all local communities in a fully inclusive manner. • Genesis CDA is volunteer based with all the current members working on a voluntary basis. • Our new strategy for 2010-2015 focuses on accessing ICT skills to rural communities, professional and academic mentoring, dissemination and internalization of social and economic pillars of the Kenya vision 2030 to the rural communities and their relevancy to the NGO’s vision of an empowered, dignified, self-reliant, gender sensitive community. • We looking to transform the local community from dependency thinking to self-reliance through education. 5. 3. What is that Genesis CDA is looking for in potential development partners • Partnership for a new Genesis Resources centre for our link schools and the District of Mwingi • Support to further develop the Genesis Community Training and Exhibition Centre which will eventually be a community communication, training and resource centre for social transformation. • Contribution by partners in the form of expert knowledge transfer and workshop facilitation. • Funding support to further develop the student and facilitator accommodation facilities at the centre. • ICT hub and infrastructure development partners particularly welcome. We are looking to eventually have a resource centre with well equipped library and computers for research and publications. • Partners for curriculum development and delivery; particularly issues covering effective local poverty reduction methods, indigenous knowledge, and other effective approaches to poverty eradication. • Partners committed to general poverty eradication. 6. 4. Why Partner with us • Well Established NGO with an existing centre that has adequate space for expansion and further development • The training room is already complete and now in use, so half of the work is done. Genesis CDA is seeking to further develop and equip the centre so that it can be fully utilised for the longer term sustainably. • Genesis CDA is working in rural Kenya where there is great need for education and information that can empower communities to fight to reduce dependency and poverty. • The centre once complete and fully operational will uplift marginalized communities through education and information sharing. • Potential to impact many students, professionals, local and national decision makers for the benefit of the community • 16 primary schools, 10 secondary schools and over 60 CBOs with direct links to Genesis. • Potentially Kenya could be an area of interest for any multinational organisation as Nairobi is the hub of Central and Southern Africa economic activity with a large number of multinational companies and international organisations having a presence there.
