Resistance Training with gym equipment

Resistance training is another vital component of any exercise program for people with different health issues. This refers to exercise that requires the body's musculoskeletal system to work against an opposing force, such as gravity or weight. Resistance training has positive effects on insulin resistance, glycemic control, weight loss and management, maintenance of lean body mass, strength, balance and functional capabilities.

  1. Resistance Training with gym equipment Why resistance training with gym equipment

  2. Let talk about structure and resistance training for both healthy and unhealthy people. What they can do to stay strong and fit.

  3. Resistant Training Very obese individuals, those with balance and mobility issues, foot health problems and peripheral vascular disease often find this form of training easier to cope with and may be more likely to adhere to the program. Physical inactivity has been described as a global pandemic. International guidelines recommend children and adolescents engage in at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity each day using Home Gym Equipment or Commercial Gym Equipment, consisting of aerobic activities and activities to strengthen muscle and bone (WHO, 2010). However, recent global estimates show that 80% of adolescents fail to meet this guideline.

  4. Considering the current and future economic burden associated with physical inactivity, identifying evidence-based strategies to engage young people in health-enhancing physical activity is clearly warranted. Adolescence is a critical developmental window for establishing healthy behavioral habits that may track into adulthood, yet this is also a period during which significant declines in physical activity occur. To promote engagement in a variety of physical activities during resistance training, a more thorough understanding of the mechanisms underpinning physical activity participation is required. However, perceived competence is situated within the context of an individual’s actual competence in various forms of movement.

  5. The need to provide greater opportunities for resistance training has seen an increasing number of gym equipment suppliers enter the marketplace with a wide range of equipment and types. Some equipment is designed for a specific purpose, while others can be used for a variety of exercise types. To split the many forms of exercise, materials and finishes that are available for gym equipment, two types have been defined. They are: 1. Static equipment that has no moving parts; and 2. Dynamic equipment, with moving parts activated.

  6. Static Equipment Static equipment can be used for all four types of exercise and in particular, open and closed kinetic chain movements (weight-bearing exercises, where users utilize their own body weight). Static equipment provides the following opportunities: • Cost effective - it can be cheaper than dynamic equipment. This allows more equipment to be installed for the same amount of money; • Robust - it has minimal moving parts and is more suited to shoreline installations where the equipment can be subject to salt, sand and wind-exposure; • Low maintenance - it has minimal or no maintenance requirements; • It is suited to CrossFit exercising, which is rapidly growing in popularity (CrossFit exercise is a form of strength and conditioning that focuses on performing functional movements combined into high intensity, varied workouts). • Functionality - a variety of exercises can be performed using one piece of equipment for greater overall fitness; • Customization - it can have other items, such as ropes and resistance bands, attached to it. This encourages people to use it for exercise instead of improvising with other park facilities, such as seats, light poles and fences. • Flexibility - it provides a flexible facility for those who are less mobile or with limited strength. People can adjust their degree of physical exertion themselves and are not required to exert a defined weight to operate the equipment;

  7. Dynamic Equipment Dynamic equipment focuses on isokinetic movements: variable resistance to a movement, that no matter how much effort is exerted, the movement takes place at a constant speed. Dynamic equipment provides the following opportunities: • Aerobic - it offers a greater selection of equipment for aerobic exercise than static equipment; • Fitness level – most dynamic gym equipment does not require an existing level of fitness, making it readily accessible to new and lower fitness level users; • Accessibility – many dynamic equipment suppliers offer a range of all abilities equipment; • Innovation – some dynamic equipment suppliers offer a green energy range, allowing users to convert human energy into usable electricity to power outdoor lighting and mobile devices; • Familiarity - It mimics well-known indoor fitness equipment, such as treadmills and cross trainers, so the use may be obvious. However explanatory signage is still recommended for users who are unfamiliar with fitness equipment. Constraints of dynamic equipment include: • Play - the movable equipment can be enticing to children for play, rather than intentional fitness training. This can occur when the equipment is located near a playground or other children’s recreation space;

  8. Examples of external equipment Examples of external equipment that may be used in a facility, if council has installed equipment specifically for that purpose, include ropes, straps, resistance bands and suspension training devices. It is important that these items are used only in designated outdoor fitness equipment stations on elements installed specifically for these items. External equipment must not adversely impact on other park users or damage facilities. QUICK TIP Try right clicking on a photo and using "Replace Image" to show your own photo.
