  2. San Miguel de Allende - Highlights • Home of General Ignacio de Allende • City named in his honor after the War of Independence • Parroquia de San Miguel (pictured here at night) • Historical tour and orienteering exercise to challenge students’ math and teamwork skills

Dolores Hidalgo - Highlights • The Cradle of the Independence • Home of the famous “Grito” of Hidalgo (his statue in center pictured here) • Parroquia of Dolores (pictured here) • Museum of the Independence – contains many historical objects and important pieces of art • La Casa de Hidalgo – Colonial home where Hidalgo lived, now many historical objects related to his life and Independence

Guanajuato - Highlights • Panoramic view of city from El Pipila • Educational tour of a silver mine • Historical tour of the Teatro Juarez • A study of Diego Rivera’s work and visit to childhood home • A visit to the historic Alhondiga – the great site of the heroic Pipila during Independence • A visit to the famous Mummy Museum • Historical walk in the city center

Who will go? • The goal is for the entire 6th grade to attend.* • One chaperone for every 10 children. • 6th grade team members • One administrator • One security guard from ASFG. • A tour guide with experience from this and other ASFG trips. *Please note that students who do not attend will be given alternative assignments to complete while we are on the trip. *Please also note that students who have been suspended in the 60 days prior to the trip may not be eligible to go.

  6. Payment information • Total cost = 4550 pesos • We ask that you pay in two payments 1. Due Oct. 17th – 2300 pesos 2. Due Oct. 31 – 2250 pesos • Payments must be made on time! • Please pay at the caja with either check, Visa, or Mastercard. • Bank transfers are also acceptable…please specify that the deposit is for the 6th grade trip and then call MS Office to let us know you made the transfer.

  7. What does it include? • First class bus transportation. • Hotels. Real de Minas San Miguel de Allende (1 night). Misión Guanajuato (2 nights). • All meals except dinner on the first night. Students need to bring a snack for first day while on the bus. Students will go out to a restaurant with their group leader on the night in San Miguel. Students should bring 150 pesos for this meal. • Tours. • Museums. • Tips. • Guided visits. • Taxes.

  9. ItineraryTuesday, Nov. 11th • Depart ASFG at 07:30 (stop on the way for breakfast) • Arrive in San Miguel de Allende at 13:00 • Check in hotel and have lunch • In the afternoon, we will walk in downtown and visit Parroquia de San Miguel and Jardin Central. • Dinner in restaurant at 19:30.

ItineraryWednesday, Nov. 12th • Breakfast at 08:00 – then check out • On the way out, we will visit a glass blowing factory. • After the factory we will go to Dolores Hidalgo arriving approximately at 13:00 • Comida at restaurant (with a fixed menu) in Dolores Hidalgo • We will visit La Casa de Hidalgo and the Museo de la Independencia. • Depart Dolores Hidalgo at 16:00 • Arrive in Guanajuato approximately at 18:00 • Check in, dinner, and activities • After dinner, return to hotel for activities and bedtime.

ItineraryThursday, Nov. 13th • Breakfast at 08:00 • After breakfast visit la Bocamina de San Cayetano, Iglesia de la Valenciana, Carretera Panoramica, Presa de la Olla, Palacio de Gobierno, Monumento al Pipila, etc. • Return to the hotel for lunch • In the afternoon, visit city center on foot • Places we will visit include Alhondiga, Teatro Juarez, Museo Diego Rivera, Callejon del Beso, etc. • Return to hotel at 19:00 • Dinner with great show by “estudiantina”

Before we begin/ Antes de iniciar • Please fill out your permission/medication sheet and give it to one of the teachers • Be sure we have a copy of your insurance information • Pick up your handouts • Favor de llenar la hoja de permiso y la hoja de medicamentos y entregarlas a uno de los maestros. • Asegúrense de entregarnos una copia de la información de gastos médicos mayores. • Favor de recoger la información del viaje.

  15. Guanajuato Trip Rules On the bus • Windows will remain closed • Do not throw anything out a window or put any part of your body outside window • Everyone must be seated at all times • No screaming/yelling • Properly dispose of all trash

  17. Guanajuato Trip Rules Groups 1. You must stay with your group leader at all times. Absolutely never wander off. 2. Do not buy from vendors or stop for any other reason without permission. 3. Always mind your group leader

  19. Guanajuato Trip Rules Hotel 1. You will be assigned a room. You and your partner are 100% responsible for it. 2. You are not allowed to visit other rooms without permission from your group leader. 3. Boys are NEVER allowed in girls’ rooms, and girls are NEVER allowed in boys’ rooms. Don’t do it.

  21. Guanajuato Trip Rules More Hotel Rules 1. Treat hotel/kitchen staff with respect 2. No screaming. Keep noise level down at all times. For example, don’t slam your bag while walking down steps. 3. Be respectful of other guests. Remember, they are on vacation and want to relax. 4. Wait patiently in line when time for meals. 5. NEVER leave your room after lights out unless it is an EMERGENCY.

Packing List CLOTHING (4 days / 3 nights) • 2-3 pairs of shorts • 2-3 pairs of pants • 4-5 T-shirts/blouses • 2 sweater/sweatshirt/jacket • 1-2 sets of pajamas • 4-5 underwear • 4-5 pairs of socks • 1 pair of comfortable shoes (sneakers/hiking shoes) • 1 ‘nice’ outfit/shoes • Hat or cap PERSONAL HYGIENE • Toothbrush/toothpaste • Deodorant • Shampoo/conditioner • Sunscreen • Other necessary items Luggage • 1 small backpack • 1 suitcase Optional • Camera (perhaps share) • I-Pod School Supplies • Pens, pencils, colors, ruler • A clipboard is recommended Please note that students should also bring a packed lunch for the first day on the bus

Money/Dinero • Students will have limited time to shop for souvenirs, candy, etc. • should not bring more than $300-350 pesos • We will have a restaurant meal in San Miguel, so students should budget for that $150 pesos. • Los niños tendrán poco tiempo para comprar recuerdos, dulces, etc. • No es necesario traer más de $300-350 pesos • Cenaremos en un restaurante en San Miguel, por tal motivo los niños deberán traer suficiente dinero para pagar su cena. $150 pesos.
