Odia Book Satya Mahima Dharma PurnnaSahmita Satya Mahima Dharma (the "dharma of divine glory") is an Orissan religious tradition. It can be traced back to a historical figure named MahimaSvami (or MahimaGosain). In 1826, he is said to have appeared in Puri. He left Puri, dissatisfied with the ritualised idol worship of Lord Jagannath, and travelled to the Kapilas hills near Dhenkanal, where he engaged in severe Yogic practises. He became a siddha in 1862 and began preaching a new dharma. In 1876, he is said to have attained samadhi. The movement shifted away from the coastal region and towards the central and western parts of Odisha under his first disciple, Govinda Baba, and the dissident saint poet BhimaBhoi. Spreading to other states (Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and others).
