  2. There are many items a kitchen requires and thus as a buyer it seems more of an occasion than just a normal trip to the local supermarket. The utensils range from measuring spoons to big dishes such as a skillet. It is one of the items that are bought after much thinking and deliberations. Iron cookware is appreciated in the kitchen due to several reasons and this article elaborates on the same.

  3. Enamelled and non-enamelled pans • While buying a cast iron pan or cookware one should keep in mind that they need to be coated in oil for them to act as non-stick pans. These pans are long lasting mainly depending on how they are cared for i.e. immediately washed after use.

  4. The traditional pans are cheaper because they do not have a coating. • If you want to buy utensils of cast iron which have a coating to make them non-stick then you should be prepared to shell out more money than you did with your traditional pans.

  5. Used or a brand new utensil • If you are one of those people who do not have time to wait for a utensil to be made available then you can choose to go with new pans. Since they are not seasoned it is easier to procure them. • On the other hand if you are someone who doesn’t mind a cast iron utensil that has been seasoned with someone else’s cooking then you should go for a used pan. They last for a long period of time owing to the years of cooking.

  6. Deciding on the type of pan If you tend to gravitate towards deep frying your food items then you can consider buying a skillet. To make it easier to be lifted out of an oven some of them come with a handle on the front. However if you are a baker and prefer to make roasts and sauces then you can buy a Dutch oven which is a deeper dish and comes with a lid.

  7. How to care for your iron cast cookware • While washing your iron cast cookware do not use excessive amounts of soap, rinse it properly to get rid of residual food. • One of the most basic things that are to be done is wash it with warm water before using it. • You are to coat your iron cast utensil with a thin layer of cooking oil and to leave it to dry. It should be stored away from the sun.
