“At present, the following developing countries are classified as being the heavily indebted poor countries: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Honduras, Kenya, Lao PDR, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zambia.” (http://www.imf.org/external/np/hipc/hipc.htm)

“Poor people in developing countries spend between 50%-80% of their incomes on food today. Currently [people] in Europe and North America spend between 10%-20% of [their] income on food and a lot of that of course is for packaging and marketing and so on.”
