  5. Coalition for Appalachian Ministries (CAM) is a partnership Ministryof Reformed Church Traditions • The Christian Reformed Church • The Cumberland Presbyterian Church • The Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America • The Presbyterian Church USA • The Reformed Church in America

  6. OUR MISSION The mission of the Coalition for Appalachian Ministry is to make a positive impact wherever Reformed tradition and Appalachian culture come together by networking with church and community to provide educational and service opportunities.

  7. CAM’s MISSION INCLUDES • Providing information on issues or concern to the churches in the Appalachian region • Serving as a channel for Presbyterian Hunger funds and grants to community projects. • Reflecting theologically on the cultural context of Appalachia. • Working in solidarity with the people of Appalachia.

  8. CAM’s Mission Includes Appalachian Craft Outlet (for low income crafters in the region) AND Volunteer Service Ministries in Appalachia (for individuals and groups)

  9. CAM CRAFT CABIN • Encourages Appalachian crafters to share their hand crafted items and a bit about their culture.

  11. CAM Volunteer Program • CAM’s Volunteer Program is a partnership between people. It is a ministry of sharing and mutual respect in which those serving and those being served learn from each other.

  12. CAM VOLUNTEER PROGRAM • Since the inception of the CAM Volunteer Program in 1997, more than 13,400 youth and adults have participated in Appalachian volunteer work experiences.

  13. CAM VOLUNTEERS: • Repair Homes • Construct New Homes • Lead Vacation Bible Schools • Work with local community projects in a variety of ways (medical, farm operations, substance abuse)

  14. CAM VOLUNTEER PROGRAM • CAM has helped coordinate the placement of interns from Reformed Churches in Eastern European with Appalachian congregations.

  15. Interested in Volunteer Work? • Work camp groups of adults and youth are needed to serve for week-long projects. • Opportunities for individuals to serve for a few weeks, months and longer are available.

Ways you, can get involved: • You, your congregation, or regional governing body (presbytery, classis…) can become a partner member in CAM. • You, your congregation, or regional governing body can engage in volunteer mission work in Appalachia. • Stay informed about the issues impacting the people of the Appalachian region. • Support CAM with prayers and financially.
