A Complete Guide to Laboratory Glassware – Jlab Export

Be it any laboratory, biology or chemistry, there are certain instruments and equipment that are simply indispensable. The list of such products is incomplete without mentioning the lab glassware. Traditionally, these glassware were made from heat resistant glass, but with changing times, heat resistant glass was replaced by plastic or plastic coated glassware. As compared to glassware, plasticware is far cheaper, arenu2019t vulnerable to breakage and come handy in the lab. Plastic coated glassware are considered as an added benefit for storing chemicals that can pose danger in case the glassware breaks down. The plastic would keep the chemical within itself till it can be disposed off safely. But doesnu2019t matter how good plastic labware are, they can never replace the good, old glassware. That is why there is always a good demand of laboratory glassware with the laboratory glassware manufacturers in India. Thanks to the transparency, heat resistant nature and chemical stability, glassware makes an important part of the numerous laboratories.

  1. A Complete Guide to Laboratory Glassware – Jlab Export Be it any laboratory, biology or chemistry, there are certain instruments and equipment that are simply indispensable. The list of such products is incomplete without mentioning the lab glassware. Traditionally, these glassware were made from heat resistant glass, but with changing times, heat resistant glass was replaced by plastic or plastic coated glassware. As compared to glassware, plasticware is far cheaper, aren’t vulnerable to breakage and come handy in the lab. Plastic coated glassware are considered as an added benefit for storing chemicals that can pose danger in case the glassware breaks down. The plastic would keep the chemical within itself till it can be disposed off safely. But doesn’t matter how good plastic labware are, they can never replace the good, old glassware. That is why there is always a good demand of laboratory glassware with the laboratory glassware manufacturers in India. Thanks to the transparency, heat resistant nature and chemical stability, glassware makes an important part of the numerous laboratories. Now, there is a wide range of glass available in the market, but not every variety is suitable for the lab glassware. The most common variety that is used in the laboratory glassware is borosilicate glass or Pyrex glass that is completely clear and can easily withstand higher temperatures as well. Apart from this, one can easily purchase amber or brown colored glassware to keep the chemicals safe from the harmful effects of UV or IR rays. Doesn’t matter what material laboratory equipment are made of, the names, intended use and shapes remain constant. So, today we are going to discuss some of the most common used laboratory glassware. Flasks Laboratory flasks have a peculiar narrow neck that is open from the top and a large, round base. Flasks serve an assortment of purposes, some being heating different solutions to collecting the liquids. Available in different shapes, sizes and features, these flaks have their corresponding names. Let’s know about them in details: •Erlenmeyer Flasks: Initially used by a German scientist named Emil Erlenmeyer, this flask is also known as conical flasks. These have flat bottoms and are shaped like cone with a single, long neck. •Buchner Flasks: Buchner flaks are modified version of Erlenmeyer flasks. These have a little tube sticking out horizontally from the main neck. This arm is tightly connected to a flexible hose. Buchner flasks are made in such a way that they can easily withstand pressures because they are utilized to create a vacuum.

  2. •Florence: Florence flasks are the rounded bottom ones with one or more long necks. These are made of borosilicate glass. Generally used for heating solutions, Florence flasks should be heat resistant. Beakers Glass beakers are easily available with any laboratory glassware manufacturers in India and are usually utilized for mixing and heating the different solutions and liquids. They come in a cylindrical shape with a spout for effortless pouring. Their size varies from a few milliliters to large 10-liter beaker. Most of the beakers are graduated with proper demarcation. Funnels Funnels are another interesting glassware found in the labs. They have a straight long neck with an inverted cone in the end. They are used to pour one liquid into another without spilling. Test Tubes The most common used glassware in any laboratory is test tube. With a round bottom, it is a long cylinder-shaped glassware used to hold or mix small amounts of material. Specialized racks are available to hold several test tubes at one place. These are usually heat resistant and are widely used by chemists, medical professionals, biologists, botanists and other researchers. Other than these, there are several other kinds of lab instrument and equipment available with laboratory glassware manufacturers in India that are integral part of a laboratory. Want to know more about them? Then, stay tuned with us.
