Smile Refractive Procedure Explain

Small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) is a new refractive procedure used to treat several medical conditions related to the eyes. These medical conditions may be myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. In this procedure, a femtosecond laser is used. It is used to create a corneal lenticular (a disc-shaped tissue of the cornea) which is then extracted by making a small hole. It is done without using an excimer laser. This procedure has minimum complications, increased stability, and a short recovery time. Because of these characteristics SMILE procedure has gained a lot of popular

  1. SmileRefractive ProcedureExplainByLASIK EyeSurgeryCenterInDelhi Overview Smallincisionlenticuleextraction(SMILE) is a new refractiveprocedure used to treat several medical conditions related to the eyes. These medical conditionsmaybemyopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, andpresbyopia. In this procedure, a femtosecond laser is used. It is used to create a corneal lenticular (a disc-shapedtissue ofthe cornea)whichis then extracted by making a small hole. It is done without using an excimer laser. This procedure has minimum complications, increased stability, and a short recoverytime.BecauseofthesecharacteristicsSMILEprocedurehas gainedalotofpopularity. Thisprocedure is speciallymeant for those sufferingfroma severecaseofmyopiaandastigmatism. WhatAreTheBenefitsOfSmile RefractiveSurgery? • The time taken to completion of SMILE surgery is 10 to 15 minutes. • SMILEeye surgerycan alsocorrect severecasesofnear-sightedness. • SMILE eye surgery is minimally invasive that uses a smaller incision thantraditionallaservisioncorrectionsurgery.Asaresult, itresults inminimaldistortionto thesurfaceoftheeye. • Generally, the SMILE eye surgery recovery is faster than other visioncorrectionsurgeries.Patients can wear makeup, exercise, and drivetheday followingtheSMILEprocedure.   

  2. Patients may experience very few dry eye cases in SMILE surgery comparedtoLASIK eyesurgery. WhatIsTheProcedureForSmile EyeSurgery? TheSMILEsurgeryisperformedas follows:-  • First, the surgeon will administera precise doseoflocalanesthetic eyedrops. It isusedtonumbtheeyes. Itensures a painless procedure. • Due to anesthesia, you would not feelanykindofpainduringthe surgery. • Then, the femtosecond laser is used. It places several pulses on the center of the cornea. It is done with extraordinary precision by the machine. • Then, the pulses created by the laser on the center of the cornea generate tinybubbles(These bubblesareahundred part ofthe sizeof a human hair). These bubbles are created on the tissues that are neededtoberemoved. The outlineofthesebubblesshows the outline ofthetissueto beremoved. • The laser createdthe connecting tunnel.Itallowsthesurgeonto extractthe tissue. Iteventuallychanges the shapeofthe cornea, and thevisionof thepersonisimproved.     WhatToExpectAfterTheSmile RefractiveProcedure?

  3. After the completion of the surgery, the vision of the person is improved by almost 80% within a few hours and increases to the capacity of100%aftera fewweeks. • Recovery may be faster, but after completing the SMILE eye surgery, thevisionmight be slightlyblurry. This blurryvision isa temporaryand completelynormalthing after eye surgery. • The doctor may call you for an appointment on the next day of thesurgery. • The doctor may callforfollow-upappointmentsfor 12monthsat anintervaldecidedbythesurgeon. • During follow-ups,thedoctorwillcheck the progressandhealing oftheeyes.     WhoShouldNotOptForSmile RefractiveSurgery? Somepeopleshouldnot go forSMILErefractivesurgery, especially a personhavingany oftheseproblems:- • Arefractiveerrorthatischanging continuously • Having diseases related to skin or other conditions can delay the healingprocess. • A severe case of Glaucoma. Asevere caseofDiabetes. • Having a disease that causes abrasion to the cornea If youhaveahistoryof eyedisease • Sufferingfromcataract Infectionintheeye       

  4. Womenwhoarepregnant ornursing What Are The Complications Of TheSmileRefractiveProcedure? Supporting the success and the safety of the surgery, the complications that can arise due to the small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) procedure are very infrequent. Some of the complications of SMILE eye surgeryare:- • Epithelialabrasion (loss ofthe outermost layerofthe cornea) • Smalltearsatthesiteofthecut  However, anyofthe above complicationshadnot caused visual impairmentinanypatients. One of the primary complications of SMILE is the loss of suction duringthe femtosecondlaser part ofthesurgery. It occurs in rare cases, butthe suctionisregained immediately afterlosing. Conclusion TheSMILE procedureis thebest recentadvancementin theeyecarefield. It isaminimallyinvasive surgicalprocedure. THE Smallincision lenticule extractionisthe bestandmost promisingalternativetoLASIK surgerybecauseofits benefitsandreducedrecoverytime. Also, this methodisapproved byFDAfor treatingeye conditions. 
