GTP of The Ethiopia Agriclture

The Ethiopian economy is highly dependent on agriculture, which in the 2004/05 fiscal year, contributed about 48% of the GDP, followed by 39% from the service sector, and 13% from the industrial sector. The agriculture sector provides employment for about 80% of the population (The Economic Intelligence Unit<br>2007). The livestock subsector plays a vital role as source of food, income, services and foreign exchange to the Ethiopian economy, and contributes to 12 and 33% of the total and agricultural GDP, respectively, and accounts for 12u201315% of the total export earnings, second in order of importance. https://farming.365ethiojobs.com/

  1. Livestock sector Growth and Transformation

Back ground • The Government of established a Livestock State Ministry within the Ministry of Agriculture. • The State Ministry officially started on 15 March 2013 with the appointment of State Minster • It had been also organized as Ministry of livestock and fisheries (2016-2018) • Back to MoA and organized as sector leading by two state ministries (Production and Health) 2018

  3. Animal health: focusing on health services provision, quarantine services and regulatory services. The directorate is crosscutting in that it works with both other animal production and pastoral directorates. • Animal production and feed: focusing on production technology adoption and feed resource development; • There are more than 15 directorates (under the health and production)

  4. There are also four autonomous institutions that operate under this sector: • National veterinary institute • National artificial insemination centre • National animal health diagnostic and investigation centre • Animal feed and drug administration and control authority

  5. Main projects in the sector • RPLRP • PDRSLP • LSSDP • Health projects (PPR …) • RPLRP PDRSLP are regional projects (IGAD) • Based on the Country Programing Paper (CPP) • Have similar working areas • Differce in number of components

We have cooperatives on • Fodder production and marketing • Income diversification through IGS. • Fattening, forage seed production and diary • Agriculture jobs
