The number of Christians is declining, both as a share of the U.S. population and in total number. • The percentage of Americans who identify with non-Christian faiths, such as Islam and Hinduism, has grown in recent years, from 4.7% in 2007 to 5.9% in 2014.
Approximately 6,600 people groups in the world are considered unreached with the gospel. • For every dollar of Christian resources, less than one penny is directed at reaching unreached peoples with the gospel.
More than 1,800 languages in the world today do not have a translation of the Bible. • How do these numbers make you feel? • What would you say is our responsibility when it comes to reaching the world with the gospel?
While the church has made significant strides in evangelism since the first century, there is much yet to be done. Today we will see how the early church and believers began to take the gospel to all the world, and how we can do our part today.

The Church Sends People Out With the Gospel As the church met for a time of worship and fasting, they sensed the leadership of the Holy Spirit to “set apart” Barnabas and Saul to carry on the work God had for them. The church prayed and sent them out, according to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
The sending of Paul and Barnabas by the church at Antioch illustrates that God established the church to make disciples and transfer the faith.

Some Want to Hear the Gospel, But Others Oppose It Many of the Gentiles rejoiced, glorified the Lord, and experienced the promise of eternal life. Many of the Jews, however, responded in anger, inciting others to anger and persecuting Paul and Barnabas for their message.
The varied reactions to Paul’s preaching of the gospel illustrate that we are engaged in a spiritual warfare.
