Mammograms can be used to look for breast cancer

Mammography is a diagnostic screening technique that examines the human breast. The goal of mammography is to detect breast cancer early. At our centre, ultrasound is used in conjunction with mammography to evaluate masses that are not visible on mammography. Mammography is recommended every two years for average women between the ages of 40 and 75. Dr Jolly Diagnostic Centre's radiology department provides Ultrasound, X-Ray, Doppler Tests, Dental X-Ray, Mammography, and other services.

  1. What exactly is a Mammogram? A mammogram is a type of X-ray that examines the breast. It is used to detect and diagnose breast disease in women who have breast complaints, such as a lump, pain, or nipple discharge, as well as in women who do not have breast complaints. The procedure detects breast cancers, benign tumours, and cysts prior to palpation (touch). Mammography cannot prove that an abnormal area is cancer, but if it raises a strong suspicion, tissue will be removed for a biopsy. Tissue can be removed via needle biopsy or open surgical biopsy and examined under a microscope to determine whether it is cancerous.

  2. Mammography has been used for about 30 years, and technological advances in the last 15 years have greatly improved both the technique and the results. Today, dedicated equipment used only for breast X-rays produces high-quality but low-radiation-dose studies. Radiation risks are regarded as insignificant. The advancement of digital mammography technology allows for better breast imaging, particularly for women under the age of 50, women with dense breast tissue, and premenopausal or perimenopausal women. Digital mammography generates electronic images of the breasts that can be enhanced with computer technology, saved on computers, and even transmitted electronically in cases where remote access to the mammogram is required. The procedure for a digital mammogram is similar to that of a standard mammogram. A density mammographic image from a conventional film mammogram or a digitally acquired mammogram is analysed for masses, calcifications, or areas of abnormal density that may indicate the presence of cancer using computer- aided detection (CAD) systems. The CAD system highlights the images for further analysis by the radiologist. Book now! - +91-9810483021 | 01145693972. Dr Jolly Diagnostic Centre is a Clinic in Greater Kailash Part 1, Delhi.
