Magic times in a magical cityBy Anna SI loved this sweet, quirky book about four NYC kids rediscovering their friendship during a stormy night before the SATs. Davies' characters are well-drawn and their journeys are believable, and the heaping helping of magic makes for an exciting read. This book was also especially fun for a New Yorker, since they characters visit many beloved NYC landmarks over the course of

  2. the night: I particularly loved the scenes at the top of the Empire State Building and in the Museum of Natural History. Highly recommended for anyone looking to lose themselves in the drama romance of a magical New York City night.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. You need to read this bookBy shelly petnov-shermanJocelyn Davies writes a very engaging and wise young adult story. She captures the emotional conflicts of adolescents' who want and need to be accepted and loved by their peers. I couldn't put it down and wanted to read another one right after it....hope she writes more about her three main characters. I have recommended it to my friends who are adults but who enjoyed reading the Harry Potter and Hunger Games series.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I was really charmed by this book!By An adult fanThe characters were so well drawn that they could have been people I might have known. The flashbacks were natural and did a great job of creating the context and it, along with the magical realism, worked perfectly to pull the story together. It was a pleasure to read such a finely crafted work by an exceptionally talented writer. A bolt of lightning inspires an incredible journey in this charming, magical realism adventure that takes four teens on an all-night journey through the streets of New York City.Extraordinary things happen when we least expect them. Tiny, Lu, Will and Nathaniel used to be best friends. Then life-defining events the summer before high school tore them apart. Now, three years later, they hardly talk anymore. Nathaniel has become obsessed with winning the prestigious science scholarship that his genius older brother once won. Will has risen from anonymity to popular soccer star. Lu grew into a brash, impetuous actress. And shy, poetic Tiny has slowly been fading away. But fate weaves their lives together again the night before the SATs, during a wild thunderstorm that threatens to shut down New York City. And lightning strikes. Before they know what's hit them, the four teens embark on an epic all-night adventure to follow their dreams, fall in and out of love, reconcile the past, and overcome the fears that have been driving them since that one lost summer. And by the time the sun rises, odds are theyll discover that theres a fine line between science and magic, and that the mysteries of love and friendship cant be explained. .com Jocelyn Davies One-on-One Interview with Jay Asher Jay Asher
