The four week session will be offered from July 20 – August 16, 2008. The course is designed to meet the needs of beginning, intermediate, and advanced students ages 14-19, thus allowing participants to start at any level and make rapid progress according to individual needs. Small class size ensures individualized attention. Classes will be held five days per week from 8:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. (A total of 18 hours of instruction per week). Daily afternoon excursions will take place from 12:30 to 3:45 p.m. The International Hospitality Center, a private, non-profit, volunteer, community organization will provide homestays for a limited number of qualified participants. Host families will include the student as a member of the family (not as a formal guest) and in family activities. Senior Division students may also live with a parent/guardian (please note there is no change in price in this case). Participants will have an opportunity to explore the island of O’ahu, sightsee, enjoy the beach, and make rapid progress in English language studies. The English Language/IHC Homestay Program will include airport arrival meeting,orientation,pre- and post-testing, counseling, group excursions (Polynesian Cultural Center, Catamaraning, USS Arizona Memorial/Pearl Harbor) and a Farewell Dinner and Graduation Ceremony. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants successfully completing the program. COST: $1,895.00 USD includes tuition, weekday/afternoon group excursions, graduation ceremony and farewell dinner and either a four-week homestay or an optional weekend homestay. The participant is responsible for all international travel expenses to and from Hawaii, travel documents (visa, passport, etc.) and health/accident insurance (required of all participants throughout the duration of the program) and transportation to and from school. Students will also be expected to bring sufficient spending money to cover personal expenses, emergency expenditures, and any debts incurred while in the State of Hawaii. (Host Families will provide basic room and board and involvement in family activities. Special events, excursions, or activities beyond the program described above are the responsibility of the participant.)
