  1. Introduction BIM levels or level of development denotes the number of details that are found in a BIM model offered under architectural BIM services by leading BIM service providers. LOD of a BIM model clearly specifies information that can be expected from the model. The LOD BIM specification precisely defines the features of all 3D BIM model components at various phases of development for any type of building. The different LODs are further illustrated in the following slides. the amount of

  2. LOD 100 The building 3D model is created at this stage to represent information on a basic level, such as volume, height, area, and the orientation of any structures in detail. As a result, at this time, only conceptual models may be created under the ambit of architectural BIM services at this level.

  3. LOD 200 Building information models are represented as generalized systems or assemblies at this level. By applying approximate sizes, forms, and quantities, these BIM models are given distinct geometrical figures.

  4. LOD 300 Coordination models are built by combining structural and MEP elements, and exact dimensions are applied to the models during this step. Under LOD 300, leading BIM service provider offer models that be used to discover clashes and assist practitioners in obtaining detailed design data for any designed structures.

  5. LOD 400 BIM models are developed at this level by leading BIM service providers for manufacturing and assembly reasons. These models assist Engineers in moving on to the following stage, such as building or manufacturing, as well as performing construction schedules. These models may be used to create shop drawings and construction documentation.

  6. LOD 500 The final level of the building modeling development process is this step. The produced 3D building model is utilized for operations, maintenance, and retrofits at this level, and it depicts a completely completed structure. These models are used to assess the efficiency of buildings. Engineers may use it to make as-built drawings from a newly completed structure.
