  2. What is organ harvesting?When does it become illegal? Forced organ harvesting is the illegal practice of surgically removing a victims organs against their will for the purpose of commercial transactions. The organs are then sold on the black market.  Organ harvesting in a safe sterile hospital with the persons consent is a surgical procedure that removes organs or tissues for reuse, typically for organ transplantation. This is done by professionals who have trained in this sector. Organ trade, also known as Red market, is the trading of human organs, tissues, or other body products, usually for transplantation. According to the World Health Organization organ trade is a commercial transplantation where there is a profit, or transplantations that occur outside of national medical systems.

Where does illegal organ donation take place? • Research indicates that illegal organ trade is on the rise, with a recent report by global financial integrity estimating that the illegal organ trade generates profits between $600 million and $1.2 billion per year. • Criminal networks increasingly engage in kidnappings, especially of children and teenagers, who are then taken to locations with medical equipment. There they are murdered and their organs harvested for the illegal organ trade.  • These places are often unsterile places making the patients receiving them more at risk.

Media portrayal • There have been various portrayals of illegal organ trafficking in the media over the past few decades. 12 hour shift is an american black comedy horror released in 2020 which involves a drug addict nurse involved in a black market organ traiding scheme in 1999. Mandy, the nurse, finances her drug habit by harvesting patient organs.

  5. Practical elements How to make realistic fake blood: • Combine 2 tablespoons corn-starch, 4 teaspoons water, 1 teaspoon corn syrup, 1 tablespoon onion flakes, and 4 drops red food colouring.
