3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY BLDE University provides courses in the medical field. The University has its college located at Bijapur (now Vijayapura). The college offers courses in the UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels. Shri B. M. Patil Medical College of the institute is a premiere college. It has an intake capacity of 150 MBBS students and additionally offers courses like PG Programmes in 21 disciplines, PG Super Specialty Programme in Urology (M.Ch.), Ph.D. Program in 17 disciplines and Innovative courses like Fellowship, Diploma and Certificate Courses in Medical & Allied Sciences, and value-added courses. HISTORY • A brief historical timeline of the University is as below. • Under UGC ACT 1956 section 3, BLDE University becomes a University for the first time. • 1986 BLDE Association (Bijapur Lingayat District Educational Association) establishes the Shri B. M. Patil Medical College ( BLDE College). • In 1986 the college established its library. • 1991 the college receives an ascent from MCI (Medical Council of India) for its MBBS program. • Since then, the college has also introduced postgraduate courses and diplomas and other bachelor and master courses. Moreover, the college went on to enlist with WHO and IMED FAIMER in the past. Additionally, it opened various departments and made numerous developments in both its college and hospital.

Out of these three hostels are for girls and 5 for boys consisting of 188 and 241 rooms respectively. The hostels have WI-FI connections, an indoor sports room, recreational spaces, clean drinking water facilities, and laundry and saloon facilities readily available. Sports Sports are essential for the overall development of students. Fitness activities keep the students refreshed and active after tiring academic sessions. Therefore, the college has sports facilities available at its camps. The facilities available are grounds for cricket, football, volleyball, and hockey.
