  1. Differentiate long and short vowel Week 2 Module

  2. Good day, Salettinian learner! One with you. Let’s start another week of learning. But before we do that, you will be saying a prayer below.

  3. Before we proceed, let us read these words first. These words have vowels in them. ant – age egg – even ink – ice octopus – old pudding – uniform

  4. The words ant, egg, ink, octopus, and pudding have short vowel sounds. • While, the words age, even, ice, old, and uniform have long vowel sounds.

  5. Read the pictures by producing the correct sounds of each vowels.

  6. At this point, get your LAS and do Activity 1. • Directions: Using the words in the middle, write the words in the correct column. If the word has a long vowel sound, write it in the long vowel column. If the vowel has a short vowel sound, write it in the short vowel column.

  8. What is poem? • A poem has lines. Some poems have groups of lines. Each group of lines called a stanza. The words at the end of the lines may have the same ending sounds. Words with the same ending sounds are called rhyming words.

  10. In addition, a poem is a collection of words that express an emotion or idea; sometimes it comes with a specific rhythm. Directions: Answer the following questions on the poem “First Day of School.” 1. How many stanzas does the poem have? ___________________ 2. How many lines are in the first stanza? ___________________ 3. How many lines are there in all? ___________________ 4. Write the other pairs of rhyming words found in the poem on the lines below. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now, open your textbook to pages 5-6 and read the poem entitled “Our Loving God” After reading it, answer the questions in Activity 2of your Learning Activity Sheet(LAS).

  12. What is nouns? • Nouns are words that name of persons, places animals,events and things.

  13. Common Nouns • Common noun refers to a general name of a person, place, animal, event, or thing. • Examples of common nouns are: boy, class, school, lady, teacher, book, classmates. They are usually written beginning with small letters.

  14. Proper Nouns Examples of proper nouns are: Arnold (Specific name for a boy) Trisha (Specific name for a girl) La Salette of Quezon (Specific name for a school) Miss JossaDizon(Specific name for a teacher) Learning and Intensifying English Today (Specific name for a book) • Proper nouns refers to a particular name of a person, place, animal, event, or thing. It begins with capital letter.
