SOME HARD FACTS • The most important people in any educational institution are the students – they are the reason for the institution’s existence • Goal of any such institution is to provide students with the best return for their fee & time investments • Progress of any community, state, country or region is grossly dependent on the standard of their education • Institutions are mushrooming at a fast pace bringing in cut-throat competition • Any Educational Institution is as good or bad as its staff • To remain competitive any Institution must maintain a highly trained & motivated staff

SOME HARD FACTS • Current scene : “Classes are on; teachers are coming; students are attending; the School is running – but is anybody learning?” • Students find learning a stressful experience • Students are sometimes committing suicide before/after their exams/results • 26% rise in student suicide – highest in Maharashtra • Mgt/Principal need a tool to get the true picture of what is actually happening in the classrooms • Students remain deprived of any participation in improving their own learning process

TeaQIP – AN OVERVIEW • AIM :To improve the quality of teaching-learning process so as to make the educational journey most productive and satisfying for students and teachers both • It is a 360º feedback process originating from the students on all major parameters of classroom teaching-learning process • It culminates in a logically analysed advisory report for teachers to make their teaching more effective

  6. TeaQIP – AN OVERVIEW • TeaQIP is the panacea for all major problems of stress and disinterest in learning among students • TeaQIP is an attitude of caring for your students • It is not only a paradigm shift but can bring in a revolution in education

INTENDED GOALS • Remove academic frustration in children leading to suicide • Minimise school drop-out rate • Make learning a pleasant & rich experience for students • Establish a secure and constructive communication between students and teachers • Achieve mutual accountability among the teachers and their students • Strengthen the relationship between the teachers and their students which binds them into a team • Keep teachers on the path of continuous improvement • Provide periodic and timely feedback to the teachers • Diagnosis of weaknesses and strengths of every teacher • Improve the overall academic standard of the Institution

Students’ Feedback Protocol • Students from Grade VI upwards fill a well designed & easy-to-fill Feedback Form covering all the aspects of a teachers’ classroom teaching • Students are briefed beforehand in detail regarding the purpose & modus-operandi of this exercise • Two feedback of each teacher is taken i.e. one from the lowest and the other from the highest class that the teacher is teaching • Students are not allowed to write their name anywhere

DATA INTERPRETATION & DIAGNOSIS • Response of students to each question in the Feedback Form is quantified • All the scores are entered in the Teacher Data Sheet • All the data is collated to form a data profile of the teacher • Data profile is analyzed and interpreted • Advisory Report on strengths & weaknesses of each teacher is generated • An overall Advisory Report on the status of teaching – learning process of the institution is also prepared

COUNSELING OF INSTRUCTORS • Quality Report of each teacher is explained & discussed with the teacher individually • Each teacher is made aware of his/her strengths & weaknesses • Teachers are individually advised on ways to overcome their weaknesses • A copy of the report is given to the teacher for continuous reference

STUDENTS’ VIEWS ON TeaQIP • In the following Slides you will see scanned copies of feedbacks of some of the of students from classes VI to XI of DPS Ludhiana after filling the TeaQIP feedback on their teachers • It is very heartening to note the kind of positive change in the children’s impression about their school after they expressed their views about their teachers in the feedback form • Notice the immediate feel-good factor into them
