What is STEAD about ? • STEAD : project based on educational action in schools for the exploration of daily life culture, through the discovery of the electro-domestic universe. • Leading feature: to choose familiar objects from the home and to go back to the origin of their creation. • To make pupils (intermediate classes – 10-year-old)propose prospective scenarios.

  4. For which objectives? • To create during the European Science and Technology Week 2003 a combination of events • To make pupils familiar with science and technology • To design and diffuse pedagogic tools and methods to increase awareness of science and technology

  5. How and When ? Two stages: • Preparatory stage: preparation of various tools and instruments on the basis of scenarios • Operation stage (Sept-Nov 2003): several thematic workshops in intermediate classes + final exhibition + final seminar

  6. Which Contents ? 4 thematic workshops : • Beyond Objects • Intelligent Home • Domestic Automatism • Future Home

  7. Aim of the Workshops? • Study of the changes of the electrodomestic universe which took place during the 19th and 20th centuries • Wording of new proposals concerning: • The management of the habitable space • New functions and services • Objects and system of objects • New uses • Hybrid productions

  8. Workshops Operation • 5 to 10 sessions for each class involved in the project. • A moderator + the teacher will organise work in each class according to a scenario developed during the preparatory stage. • On the basis of narratives, pupils will produce several elements (objects, texts, videos, etc.)to be presented during the final exhibition.

  9. Supporting Events • « Tools and Methods » Seminar – April 2nd 2003 • « Changes, Challenges and Opportunities » Seminar – November 5th 2003 • Final exhibition – November 3rd to 9th 2003 • STEAD Website from July 1st 2003

  10. Dissemination • Publication of a newsletter (4 issues) to be distributed by e-mail. • Organisation of two seminars – the second one being open to a large target audience. • Creation of a Website: information +results + virtual gallery + database + search engines and other similar educational websites…
