  1. BLOG 1- 2MCCTV The Technology Behind IP Cameras An Internet Protocol Camera, or IP Camera is a digital video camera that is used in surveillance. The main difference this camera brings to the surveillance scene is that it sends and receives data via a computer network and internet instead of wires like the analog cameras used in closed circuit Television systems. Alternative names The IP Camera is also called the net cam and is usually used predominantly for surveillance purposes. While most cameras do use the internet to transmit data, the IP cameras are given this unique name because of the technology they use. Classifications based on recording Based on whether or not an IP camera requires a central Network Video Recorder, it is classified as into centralised and decentralised IP cameras. The centralised camera requires the NVR to handle the recording while the decentralised camera can record to any local or remote storage media as required. Technical and video specifications IP cameras initially began as digital VGA resolutions cameras that had only 0.3 Megapixels and then progressed to the high resolution of 29 mega pixels. With the increasing availability of technology, IP Cameras have also become high definition cameras that are capable of recording videos in 720p, 1080i or the 16:9 widescreen format. The broadcasting technologies The analog CCTV cameras had specified transmission in the Common Intermediate Format (CIF), NTSC, PAL and SECAM but the output format of the IP cameras is decided based on the video encoding schemes used in the devices and allowed by the network protocols. Each video management software encodes and decodes videos differently. 2M CCTV sells bullet IP cameras, dome security cameras, thermal imaging cameras, IP PTZ cameras, wireless surveillance systems and other hidden cameras and CCTV security systems varities.
