8 compulsory checks

1. 8 important checks to do before energizing the dry-type transformer 8 compulsory checks The transformer should only be energised after checking the following 8 items. 1st check (classification of the nameplate) Make sure that the nominative notes conform to the dimensions provided for the place of installation. 2nd check (parallel operation) When transformers are to be operated in parallel , make sure they are connected with the correct polarity. 2. dry-type transformer 3rd check (connections: cables, bus bars) Make sure all connections to cables or buses are properly connected and properly placed. 4th check (change connections) Be sure that all connections on the tap changer panel are firmly tightened and in the same position in all three phases. 5th check (earthing) Make sure that the earth mesh is correctly connected to the bolt provided for this purpose.

Also, make sure that the grounding mesh has been correctly executed in the correct location provided in the project and shown in the drawing. 6th check (thermal protection device) In the case of transformers equipped with a thermal protection device , check the circuit connections making sure that the voltage is correct and that the alarm and stop contacts are connected to their corresponding loops. 7th check (elimination of impurities) Make sure that there is no material, equipment or any other impurity deposited on the transformer , between the coils or obstructing the ventilation in the cooling channels. 8th check (insulation resistance test) It is always advisable to check the insulation resistance by making measurements between BT and HT coils and coils on the ground. ONLY after these checks have been completed, the dry-type transformer can be connected to the system. Voltage should be applied while the transformer is set to no load, and this voltage should be measured at the secondary winding to verify the corresponding output ratings. Operations at voltages other than the rated one may cause high saturation, high loss, which may cause overheating and noise above standard levels . Warning! If the transformer is set to an improper valve, noises above standard levels are to be expected. The load should be applied gradually up to rated power.
