1. How to Withdraw from a Suspended Paypal Account With a 180Day Hold! One of our clients mail us this: I opened a PayPal account in November of last year in order to sell some items on eBay. Immediately after selling the items, my PayPal account was limited. They asked for a bunch of documents to be uploaded at the time. I did not upload these documents for a few reasons. I didn't feel comfortable giving all of these sensitive documents to PayPal and also they asked for "business information" which is impossible to provide as I do not own a business. About a week or so later, I received a notification that due to "risk factors" they decided to permanently limit my account and hold my money for 180 days. I was very upset over this, but I figured I could just get my money back after the 180 days passed so it wasn't the end of the world. Fast forward 180 days later, I received an email stating my PayPal funds were eligible for withdrawal. But when I tried logging into my account to withdraw the funds, I noticed that I was locked out of my account with a message saying if I think there's a problem with my account, to contact customer support to resolve it. Calling the 1-800 number to try and resolve this was an absolute nightmare. Very long hold times (over 2 hours in some cases) and in the end no one was able to resolve this issue. I ended up opening a BBB complaint against PayPal recently where they asked for all of the same documents when my account was limited initially (including business information) before they would let me withdraw my money in what seemed to be a pretty generic response. I explained to them that I do not own a business among several other concerns about their request. Including the fact that they provided 2 different places to send these documents: by email to executiveoffice(at)paypal(dot)com or by fax to (402) 537-5765 I sent correspondence to both about my issue and received no response at all from the fax number. The email it took 8 days to receive a generic copy/paste response that didn't address my issue. It just said the decision to permanently limit my account was final and funds would be held for 180 days (even though my funds had already been held for more than 180 days). I replied to the email explaining this and never received another response. So it seems very likely that sending documents to either of these places would yield no results. When they have no one monitoring their fax machine and some guy most likely from India looking through the emails who knows nothing about your issue and has no power to do anything other than send copy/paste responses (if he sends any response at all). I also expressed concern about why they even need these documents or why they are asking them to be sent to insecure sources such as unsecured emails or insecure fax numbers. Note: People may reply to this post saying something like well, they need to verify you're the true account owner but that's bullshit. If the money is going to the same name and address or bank account you originally registered on your account, it can't possibly go anywhere other than the rightful owner. Anyway, PayPal completely ignored all of my concerns and provided what appeared to be another generic response to the rebuttal I submitted on my Better Business Bureau complaint asking me to

My money has been held for 10 months and PayPal is still refusing to give it to me and is giving me BS runarounds. This company is a joke. I'm considering what my next steps should be to recover this money. What would it take to get a real response from this company that's not copy/paste bullshit? If a bunch of other people have a similar problem, maybe we can get a class action lawsuit started?
