  2. We’re going to have three rounds. At the end of this competition, the best 5 spellers will receive gifts. The two champions who will play the final round will receive certificates and qualify for IAT final competition.

  3. Spelling Bee Rules

  4. Who Should get ready for the Spelling Bee Competition? Everybody! There will be questions for the audience.

  5. The spelling bee is an oral competition. This means you will have to spell words out. So, you will say, “B-E-E” to spell out ‘bee’.

  6. You should pronounce (say) the word before and after spelling. Like this Bee B.E.E Bee

  7. You will be on a stage facing your teachers and all grade 10 students! You will be famous 

  8. The judge will say the word ONCE. You can ask him/her to repeat the word ONE more time. Then, you will have 50 seconds to spell it out

  9. You can also ask for the definition (meaning) of the word or ask the judge to use it in a sentence (example).

  10. Can you say the word again, please? Definition, please. Example, please.

  11. You may request to begin spelling again but will not be allowed to change letters already pronounced.

  12. You have to speak up and say the letters clearly so that the judges can hear you.

  13. If you misspell one letter, you will drop out of the contest and will be asked to leave the stage. 

  14. MOST IMPORTANTLY NO TALKING DURING THE SPELLING BEE ROUNDS
