  3. ACT’s College and Career Readiness System was Developed toHelp States and Schools... • Set and attain standards for learning • Ensure student readiness forpost-secondary education and work • Monitor student performance over time • Determine progress toward school,district, and state standards

California Common Core Standards Initiative College & Career Readiness 48 states and 2 territories, led by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers, have signed on to the Common Core Initiative ACT College and Career Readiness Standards align with the Common Core

  6. Benefits of Statewide Effective and proven tool in support of initiatives designed to: • Promote postsecondary access for all students • Increase college readiness for all students through early intervention • Decrease the need for remediation/ developmental coursework in college

CaliforniaClass of 2010 • 90,371 students took the ACT -- an increase of 8,877 • 22% of California graduates took the ACT • 48 % took the SAT • California average ACT score: 22.2 - for past three years • California graduates sent more than 143,747ACT scores to colleges • Fifty four California students achieved a “Perfect 36” ACT programs support college and career readiness for all students!
