Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees. Financial Aid Forty-two percent of SJSU students receive Financial Aid.   7. Who is eligible for the AB 540 exemption? Non-Resident Tuition Exemption Students that meet both of the following criteria are eligible: • Attended a high school in California for three or more years, and Graduate from a California high school, received a High School Equivalency Certificate issued by the California State GED Office, or received a Certificate of Proficiency resulting from the California High School Proficiency Examination. • In addition, students who meet these criteria but do not have legal immigration status must certify that they are taking steps to legalize their immigration status or will do so as soon as they are eligible. Admissions Requirements To be considered for admission, students must meet the following criteria: • Be a high school graduate, or the equivalent. • Complete the fifteen-unit comprehensive “a-g” course pattern of college preparatory study with grades of “C” or better. • Earn a qualifying eligibility index (SAT/ACT and GPA).

College Preparatory Courses (A-G) U.S. History or U.S. History and Government, and Social Science English Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra ll) Science with Lab (CSU requires one Biological Science and one Physical Science) Language other than English (two years of same language) Visual and Performing Arts (A single yearlong approved course) Electives 2 years 4 years 3 years 2 years 2 years 1 year 1 year • All college prep courses must be completed with final grades of “C-” • or higher (both regular and AP/Honors) each semester. Check with specific campuses.

  10. What if I get a grade lower than C-? • Schedule a meeting with your counselor to discuss options. • Repeat the exact same course at the high school for a higher grade. • Retake the course at a local Community College

  11. Grade Point Average The high school GPA is based upon grades earned in all approved college preparatory courses taken in the 10th, 11th and 12th grade. Initial decision can be made on 10th and 11th grades. CSU will award honors points in the GPA calculation for up to 8 semester courses taken in 10th, 11th and 12th grade. No honors points are awarded for grades of D and F.

Testing: SAT or ACT SAT: scores in mathematics and critical reading only ACT: composite score without the writing section If a student submits multiple score reports the highest score earned in each single sub score of the examination is used. Example: 1st time: 500 M + 600 CR= 1100 2nd time: 550 M + 550 CR= 1100 CSU total = 550 M + 600 CR= 1150

Local: FROSH - Graduating from Santa Clara County HS • TRANSFER - Most units earned from a college in Santa Clara or Santa Cruz counties • Non-Local: FROSH - Graduating from HS outside of Santa Clara County • TRANSFER - Most units earned from a college outside of Santa Clara or Santa Cruz Counties Local vs. Non-Local Admission Areas • LOCAL: Guaranteed offer of provisional admission to the university with minimum CSU eligibility, however admission to major of choice is not guaranteed. • NON-LOCAL: Admission is offered to non-local applicants based on the overall space available in their major.
