  2. Course Goals • Explore a variety of current environmental issues & concerns • Analyze the roles and impact of science, politics, economics and ethics on environmental concerns

  3. Course Format • Web-enhanced • Reduced Seat-Time – 2 hrs of class time for a 3-hr. course • Structure: • Introduce topic: in class, each Friday • Explore topic: use text and on-line resources • Discuss: on-line (WebBoard discussion) • Wrap-up: in class discussion & homework

  4. Exploring a topic • Class website • schedule • course overview • BlackBoard – self enroll • Links to weekly topic • deadlines • question for discussion • resources

  5. Discuss • BlackBoard • link from “Class Discussion” page • create a user account (remember your username and password) • Group list • follow link from “Class Discussion” • discuss topic within your group • requirement: at least three postings on different three days (more preferred) • all must participate or group suffers

  6. BlackBoard set-up • Announcements • Course Documents • Discussion Board • Ask Mr. Phillips • Group #: group discussion • Coffee House • Email • homework submission • private discussion w/ me

  7. Wrap-up • Friday discussions in class • Homework submission via e-mail or WebBoard by 11:00 pm Friday

  8. First Topic • How will you succeed in this class? • Today • Intro to BlackBoard • post two comments in Coffee House • By Friday • review resources • discuss question for week within group • (yes, this weekend, too)
