  24. Goal for today Volume and Surface Area CYLINDERS & Prisms

  25. FORMULA SHEET THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL GET FOR: • Test • Interim • CRCT Use it and don’t lose it 

  26. Cylinder Review

  27. Good News Surface Area for Cylinders using nets

  28. #1 Try Together! 24 in² 36 in² 24 in²

  29. #2 You Try! 9.2 in² 9.2 in² 11.4 in²

  30. Surface Area Using Formula #3

  31. Volume Review

  32. What is It?!?! • Volume- The number of cubic units needed to Fill a space • Volume is measured in cubic units (ex: in3)

  33. Rectangular Prisms • **To find the volume of a rectangular prism, multiply the area of the base by the height V=Bh B is the area of the base

  34. BASE Rectanglur Prism: When the Base is a rectangle- to find the B, use L x W, then multiply by the height of the prism Cylinder: When the Base is a circle- to find the B, use A=πr2…then multiply by the height of the cylinder Cube: is a special type of rectangular prism. We can use the formula V=s3 to find the volume, where s=side length

  35. Helpful Hint ALWAYS write the formula, plug in your values, and carefully multiply. CHECK YOUR UNITS!!!

  36. Practice Problems

  37. Questions?!?

  38. Ticket to Go • Please put your name on it! • Show your work write on the sheet of paper • Use your formula sheet! • Don’t forget to label your answers! • Hand in the front bin when you are done 
