Vocab 8 • entranced (adj) • I was entranced by the incredible view at the top of the Upper Falls hike in Yosemite; it was the most awe-striking view I have ever seen and I wanted to soak it all in. • disarming (adj) • Though she was standoffish and did not trust him at first, his disarming manner soon had her laughing and giggling at everything he said. • sullen (adj) • After her mom told her she couldn’t go to the party, Aria became sullen and stomped around the house, slamming doors and not speaking with anyone.

  8. impetuous (adj) • Teachers can tell when a student is impetuous in their writing, as many words are spelled wrong and there are many mistakes that could’ve easily been taken care of if they took more time with it. • appraise (v) • He appraised the diamond carefully, making sure there were no cracks and that it was pure all the way through, as he wanted it to be perfect for the proposal. • writhe (v) • Abby and the girls pretended to writhe in pain whenever they acted as if someone was possessing them, contorting themselves so much that people had to restrain them. • reciprocity (n) • When Joe gave Jenny a present, she wanted to show reciprocity so she went out and bought him a present too.
