  3. Theme • ‘School Breakfast – Ready Set Go!’ introduces students to the importance of school breakfast • Students will learn about the value of eating healthy and being active • School breakfast gets children “Ready, set, go!” to be their best and learn, play, run or dream

NSBW 2009 - Results • Record breaking and award winning! • 91% of sweepstakes entrants saw an increase in school breakfast participation • PR for ‘Power Up’ generated 4.72 million media impressions (1.31 more than 2008) • www.schoolbreakfast.org • 150,202 page views • 44,460 visitors (2,000 more than 2008) • www.schoolnutrition.org/nsbw • 55,000 pieces of marketing collateral downloaded • 63,582 visitors (4,000 more than 2008)

Art Contest – What does School Breakfast Make You Ready for? • Art contest open to students nationwide • Students should answer the question “What does School Breakfast make you ready for?” by completing the blank “School Breakfast – Ready Set Go ______!” and illustrating their answer on the contest entry form • 3 national winners receive a prize pack

How it works • Students (Grades 1-12) can enter • They can submit a traditional sketch or drawing on the official student contest form only • They need to fill out the contest entry form by completing the blank School Breakfast – Ready Set Go ______!” and illustrating their answer For full contest rules and more info, visit www.schoolnutrition.org/nsbw

Art Contest – What does School Breakfast Make You Ready for? 2 levels of judging 1) Local judging (school level) • Consider judging local contest by grade level and perhaps giving small prizes • A maximum of 3 winners per school can be sent to SNA headquarters for national judging • SNA will not accept submission directly from students. Ready Set Go Participation Sweepstakes • Complete the online form and be entered into the sweepstakes • Tell us how you plan to celebrate NSBW and how “Ready Set Go!” impacts NSBW participation • “Ready Set Go!” sticker sheets will be randomly awarded to entrants in January, February and March • For complete rules and to enter to win, visit www.schoolnutrition.org/nsbw

  13. Ideas for our Schools Brainstorming questions: • Create a School Breakfast celebration day and invite the media to attend. What would our celebration day include? • How can we use this campaign to drive awareness of the importance of a healthy school breakfast? • How can we involve students, parents, teachers and administrators?

Ideas for our Schools • Create a judging panel composed of school nutrition staff and teachers to judge the art contest • Use the activity sheets available at www.schoolnutrition.org/nsbw and give them out each day at breakfast • Decorate the cafeteria with “Ready Set Go!” themed materials • Invite parents in for breakfast during NSBW
