  6. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Eyes/Vision -- • Color vision • Correctable vision to 20/20 with corrective lenses

  7. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ears/Hearing -- • No hearing loss more than 40 decibels at 500 Hz • 2,000 Hz without hearing aid

  8. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education -- • Certified or certifiable as a Firefighter in Texas • Certified as an EMT in Texas

  9. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Police/Driving Record -- • No job-related felony convictions • No more than 3 moving violations within a 24-month period

  10. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Police/Driving Record -- • No more than 5 moving violations within a 36-month period

  11. PROBATIONARY EMPLOYMENT • Firefighting • Emergency Medical • Rescue

  17. ARLINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT SELECTION PROCESS

  18. SELECTION PROCESSWritten Exercise Each candidate must complete a multiple-choice written exam. Applicants who pass the written exercise will proceed to the B-PAD.

  19. SELECTION PROCESSB-PAD Each candidate must take the Behavioral Personality Assessment Device, a video-based behavioral test. Applicants who pass the written exercise will proceed to the Physical Ability Test.

  20. SELECTION PROCESSPhysical Ability Test • Complete job-related physical tasks successfully • Pass the Criminal History Investigation phase • Progress to the Panel Interview

  21. SELECTION PROCESSPanel Interview • Interviews are conducted by a diverse panel composed of sworn, City, & citizen members. • A percentage of successful interviewees will proceed to the Fire Chief’s Interview.

  22. SELECTION PROCESSConditional Job Offer • The best overall qualified applicants receive conditional job offers. • Candidates must pass health fitness, drug, alcohol, psychological, & functional capacity tests as a condition of employment.

  23. SELECTION PROCESSOrientation & Training • Five-week basic training and orientation • Assignment to full active duty and a 24-hour assignment
