  1. Some Issue about New PMSM Motor Control 05/02/2003 Limei Zhao

  2. Issue about Power Supply: (1) • Provide 2200W • Output Voltage VDC: 28V • Output Current IDC: 78.57A • Two solution: • Xantrex 6000W output XPR40-150:40V, 150A(About $3,895) • Standard input voltage is 190 to 242 VAC (208 Vrms nominal), 3 PH, 47-63Hz, 3 wire + Safety Ground • Parallel several low power power supply • Must support auto-series, auto-parallel operation • Agilent 6012B Autoranging dc Power Supply, 60V, 50A (About $4,000)

  3. Issue about Power Supply: (2) • 240V power line • How to apply for installing it in Control Lab • Any possible difficulty?

  4. Issue about Current Sensor • Stand up to at least 91A, 3.3KHZ • Two solution: • Allegro Current Sensor:ACS750ECA-100 • +/- 100A up to 85°C, 13kHz bandwidth • New component whose price hasn’t provided yet, no production quantities until July through distribution but samples may can be gotten • Separate input current • High Amp range and huge bandwidth current sensor with voltage output is not easy to find

  5. Issue about Encoder • An benchmark to get rotor position for realizing close loop control • Should install encoder? • To do test with the old motor at first to get some experience • Price to install the encoder • About $80

  6. Issue about DSP Chip • Should we need faster DSP chip? • Higher sampling frequency • Better signal • Higher efficiency • DSP for control:PWM, A/D channel • TMS320LF2407A is a good choice • Same Source code, Application note • Fast: 40MIPS • Parallel DSP Maybe need for super high speed close loop control

  7. Future Work • Continue close loop control on the old motor • Update hardware • Test the system performance • Improve efficiency
