  2. Erasmus Welcome Days Today we’ll focus on: • Current legislation in Italy about health and safety in the workplace. • Fire prevention. • Outlines of emergency plans. SPPR

Erasmus Welcome Days Regulations on health and safety • Currently in Italy there is the so-called Acts on health and safety at work (Unique Safety Test (T.U.in Italian language)), represented by D.Lgs.81/2008 and subsequent amendments. The T.U. collected almost all preexistent specific safety laws. • This rule of law applies to all sectors of activity, both public and private, and all types of risk. SPPR

Students of educational institutions and universities and participants of professional training courses in which laboratories, work equipment in general, physical and biological chemicals, are used during the course... limited to the time frame in which the student is actually using the equipment or laboratories in question.   13. Erasmus Welcome Days The main causes of fire • Negligence or carelessness in handling flammable substances • Disorder of materials • Improper use of open flames • Electrical implants out of the norm • Negligence or carelessness during operational maintenance SPPR

  14. Erasmus Welcome Days What must you do in case of fire? You must go out of building, following emergency signals. After your going out, staying in a safety place tell what happened to university workers. SPPR

  16. Erasmus Welcome Days Emergencyplans Document whose main purpose is to ensure that in the event of an emergency, everyone knows the actions that must be implemented (first of all) to guarantee the safe evacuation of the entire building. SPPR

Erasmus Welcome Days • Procedures in the case of an alarm • The procedures to be adopted in the case of alarm are distinguished between the different types of work environments (offices, crowded public buildings, companies, etc..). • However, there are several aspects that are always present: • Keeping calm (for this purpose it is important to have fundamental knowledge of the procedures and recurrent training that allows you to become familiar with the operations to be undertaken); • Strictly adhere to the provisions in the emergency plan; • Avoid transmitting panic to other people; • Provide assistance to those who are in trouble, if you have the ability to do so • Leave immediately, according to procedures(e.g., a company may be required to secure the process plant, or in a school it may be • necessary for the teacher to take the class record with them • in order to carry out the verification for the evacuation of all • students); • Do not enter the building until it is restored to normal • conditions

The Professors who teach or conduct and supervise research are responsible for those whom they teach and supervise. Now we’re looking for a main hazards at university SPPR

Erasmus Welcome Days Tackling the Risks To tackle the risks and to make the workplacesafe it is needed to implement measures to control the risks, like: • procedures • supervision • training • information activity Then , in these cases it is needed to reduce the risk, it is important to adopt PPE (Personal ProtectiveEquipment) “PPE is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work. It can include items such as safety helmets and hard hats, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear and safety harnesses”(By HSE guide)
