  1. THE WEB GROUP THE MEMBERS:

  2. THE WEB GROUP THE MEMBERS: Katalin CsERNy, Mark Godwin, George Tountoulidis, Karoly Varga-Umbrich

  3. The problems with the original website • It is difficult to find it if starting from the public CERN page (we can not solve this problem) • It is not easy to navigate the site, because the site is not well-organized • We miss the informational materials for teachers, where they can learn more about particle physics

  4. Our Goals • To help teachers (not just HST participants) find pertinent information and materials • To make the site to be easy to navigate • To make no distinction between different years, as far as the work is concerned • To collect the useable materials in a manageable structure • To find out what teachers would like to find here and include it

  5. Our purpose: To make a GUIDE FOR TEACHERS!

  6. Our plan • Survey this year’s HST teachers • To decide on major categories • To define subject materials

  7. Our plan • Survey this year’s HST teachers • To decide on major categories • To define subject materials • To review the current HST site and select useful CERN sites for teachers • To discover what is missing or lacking

  8. Our plan • Survey this year’s HST teachers • To decide on major categories • To define subject materials • To review the current HST site and select useful CERN sites for teachers • To discover what is missing or lacking • To collect appropriate materials / links • NOT to “reinvent the wheel”

  9. Initial Thoughts • Seven major categories • About CERN • For Teachers • For Students • For Public • Forum • Links • About HST

  10. After Discussions • Six major categories • About CERN About Particle • For Teachers Physics • For Students Teaching Materials • For Public • Forum • Links • About HST

  11. Aim of the Categories • About CERN - Showcase what CERN can offer for teachers

  12. Aim of the Categories • About CERN - Showcase what CERN can offer for teachers • About Particle Physics - An introduction to particle physics and applications.

  13. Aim of the Categories • About CERN - Showcase what CERN can offer for teachers • About Particle Physics - An introduction to particle physics and applications. • Teaching Materials - Online resources for teaching materials (lessons, experiments, demonstrations, exercises, descriptions, etc……..)

  14. Aim of the Categories • About CERN - Showcase what CERN can offer for teachers • About Particle Physics - An introduction to particle physics and applications. • Teaching Materials - Online resources for teaching materials (lessons, experiments, demonstrations, exercises, descriptions, etc……..) • Forum - Give everyone the possibility to have questions answered by experts. Additionally, to find answers to previously asked questions.

  16. • Links - Useful links to additional material and information outside of the CERN website • About HST - General information …

  17. Conclusions and Recommendations • A prominent link from the HST page to the teacher’s guide • Separate the yearly HST particulars (program and participants) from the HST work. • Catalog other subjects like Vlado did for the bubble chambers • Separate the HST application from info. • Continue collaboration through the forum • Continue development of this guide…
