  2. Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.TEACHERS…

(a.) • Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. • How we felt the project meets the standard: The teacher and the project instructions encourage student to think creatively/innovatively in his/her reflection of historical links in essays and slide/music presentation.

  4. (b.) • Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. • How we felt the project met the standard: Student uses a variety of digital tools/resources to explore/create links withhistorical events. These resources are:

Technology Sources Used by Student: • Word Program (2 essays) • Digital Video (Song: “We Didn’t Start the Fire”) • Internet Resources (to explore historical links) • Audio Recording of Song (and lyrics) • Digital Photos of Historical Events (for student’s slide/music show) • Power Point (Student creates a slide/music show)

(c.) • Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. • How we felt the project met the standard: Teacher periodically collaborates/reflects with student throughout entire length of project. (through document analysis forms, before beginning Part 2 of project, when student presents the Power Point at the end of Part 2)

  7. (d.) • Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments. • How we felt the project meets the standard: Teacher prepares students for the project throughout the duration of the year by engaging with them in their learning about historical events. At the end, the student creates a Power Point slide/music show to share with teacher and other students. The teacher is engaged in learning with the student-presenter and other students during this show.
