What is a Healthy College? • ‘ A Healthy College understands the importance in investing in the health and welfare of its staff and students to maximize achievement, throughproviding a physical and socialenvironment that is conducive to teaching and learning. The concept of a healthy college means thinking about how things are done as well as what is done. The process is as important as the outcomes. A health promoting college is concerned with health in its broadest sense extending beyond traditional health education. It is concerned with wider issues such as empowerment, self esteem and environment.’ Kirklees Healthy College Standard (2001)

Work Life Balance (WLB) - Work Life Balance at the College is about creating a healthier environment for staff to work in by providing information on the benefits of healthy diet, smoking less and physical activity. By supporting staff through various initiatives we hope to help colleagues create a greater state of Well-being. Well-being - the state of feeling healthy and happy
