  1. EXPLORE PENSACOLA HISTORY LECTURE SERIES WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29 SOUTHWEST BRANCH LIBRARY 6-7p.m. THURSDAY, JAN. 30 MAIN LIBRARY 6-7p.m. Having Fun, Wish You Were Here: The History of Florida through Postcards presented by  Liz Coursen, Author Sponsored by Images of Florida have fired the American imagination from its very earliest days, and the advent of the picture postcard caused an absolute mania for the Sunshine State. Coursentraces the history of postcards from Florida, starting with Ponce de Léon himself, to show that the images on these mementos helped to make Florida what it is today. In the second part of the presentation, she will focus on early postcard images of Pensacola and surrounding areas and the history we can learn from them.
