  2. Present Subjunctive - Doubt • You have used the subjunctive to say that one person tries to persuade another to do something. • It is also used after verbs and expressions that include doubt or uncertainty.

  3. Present Subjunctive - Doubt • Dudamos que puedan resolver todos los problemas. • We doubt that they can solve all the problems.

  4. Present Subjunctive - Doubt • No es cierto que protejanlas selvas tropicales. • It is not certain that they will protect rain forests.

  5. Present Subjunctive - Doubt • Other expressions that indicate doubt or uncertainty are: • No creer que to not believe • No estar seguro, -a de que to be unsure • Es imposible que it’s impossible • Es posible que it’s possible

  6. Present Subjunctive - Doubt • When the verb or expression indicates certainty, use the indicative, not the subjunctive.

  7. Present Subjunctive - Doubt • Estoy seguro de quedestruyen los bosques. • I’m sure that they are destroying the forests.
